October News

October 24th is ECE Appreciation Day!

This day has been set aside province wide to recognize the value of the input that Early Childhood Educators have on the early education and care for young children. As an organization First Adventure’s reputation for high quality is a direct result of investing in our Early Childhood Educators. I would like to invite you to join us in applauding all of our teachers on this day.

First Adventure Child and Family Space Quinte Amalgamate

We are so excited to share our good news. First Adventure and Family Space have been working diligently to amalgamate both organizations. Over the last decade we have collaborated with Family Space on many ventures with amazing success. Both organizations are focused on offering high quality programs to children and families from this region.

Children’s Entertainment

Here are some exciting opportunities to share time together with your child(ren). Nov. 3rd, Quinte Children’s Theater presents Sharon and Bram at the Maranatha Church auditorium. Tickets are just $6 and can be purchased through our office and are on sale now until October. 29th. Call Debbie or Mary Ellen at 613-962-3474.
Other upcoming events include: Robin Hood – January 19th/13th, Circus Terrificio – March 2nd/13th and Jack Crunsky – Apr. 27th/13th.

About our SCRIP Program

As a high quality program that focuses on each child’s development, we struggle to keep our fees as affordable as possible and fundraising activities at a minimum. Please help us by participating in: Fundraising with Ease!.

As a nonprofit organization we utilize many creative strategies to fundraise. The easiest and most convenient for parents is our gift card or “SCRIP” program. Like all of our families, we do buy groceries regularly and we use a gift card to purchase our groceries for the centre. First Adventure buys the gift cards and we receive up to 3.5% from the grocery chain as a donation. If all of our families participated in this program, it would have a significant impact on each of our programs. It is very easy. Forms are available in the foyer or ask your child’s teacher for a copy of the gift cards available, phone your order into the centre, pick up your gift cards. You can use your gift cards all at once or any portion of it, until you have spent the full amount. This program costs nothing to participate, i.e. when you buy a $25 gift card you can purchase $25 worth of groceries/products.
